The babies’ charity Bliss says it “would like to see flexibility for all children entering primary school. Preterm summer born children who are facing developmental delays should be allowed the flexibility to delay their entry to reception class by up to and including a full school year if this is in their best interests.“
How you can help
If you have sought to delay or defer your summer born premature child’s school place, BLISS would like to hear from you via and online survey on its website.
The charity says your information will be shared with the Department for Education in order to help demonstrate the issues that many families face when seeking flexibility over when their summer born premature children can start school.
